Situada a unos 60Km de Albacete, la población de Lietor, con unos 1400 habitantes, se encuentra abrazada por el cauce del rio Mundo. Desde aquí se dirige a entroncar con el rio Segura hacia la comunidad murciana.
Parece ser que el origen de este enclave es islámico, como atestiguan sus restos arqueológicos encontrados en el “Paraje de los Inifiernos”
Aparte de su arriscado y hermosos emplazamiento natural, destacan la iglesia de Santiago Apóstol (siglo XVII con elementos medievales) con un hermoso retablo mayor y un órgano dieciochesco; el antiguo convento de los frailes Carmelitas Descalzos, fundado a finales del siglo XVII, siendo rey Carlos II; y la ermita de Belén, de apariencia anodina pero con pinturas muy diversas en su interior.
La fauna de estos parajes también es abundante y variada. Se encuentra con facilidad ciervos, zorros, jinetas, cabras montesas y jabalíes. También se puede observar el vuelo del águila y del halcón.
Los aficionados a la pesca encontraran un lugar privilegiado para practicarla: el pantano El Talave, coto truchero construido en el año 1918 sobre una antigua presa.
Located about 60 km from Albacete , Lietor population , with about 1400 inhabitants, is embraced by the World riverbed . From here it goes to the junction with the Rio Segura at Murcia community .
It appears that the origin of this enclave is Islamic , as evidenced by archaeological remains found in the "Place of the Inifiernos "
Apart from its natural location arriscado and beautiful , highlight the St. James Church ( XVII century with medieval elements ) with a beautiful altarpiece and eighteenth-century organ , the former convent of the Discalced Carmelites , founded in the late seventeenth century , still king Charles II , and the chapel of Bethlehem, paintings apparently insignificant but very different inside.
The fauna of these places also plentiful and varied. It is easily deer, foxes , genets , wild goats and wild boars. You can also watch the flight of the eagle and hawk .
Fishing enthusiasts will find a special place to practice : the Swamp Talave reserve savanna built in 1918 on a former quarry.
